Time flies and for the second time after one year, we were going in a full force of 117 registered runners and many photographers/supporters to join the same event during which our i-Run Group was formed. Yes we had our i-Run 1st Anniversary celebration at the 54th Penang All-Chinese Cross Country Run 2011 , which I translated from the only title name in Chinese,
(2011年度第54届全槟华人越野赛跑) at Chung Ling High School last Sunday 7 Aug.

This race is organised by the Chung Ling High School Alumni Association of Penang and is traditionally held with Start/Finish by their administrative building, for many years it was held at the Logan Road before they moved their office to their 'mother school premises' 3 years ago. This is the 54th edition and must be one of the oldest road races in the country inaugurated in the Merdeka year of 1957 if it had been held continuously.

Though the title of the event reads '越野赛跑' or 'Cross Country', it is a 100% tarred-road race and this year saw the inclusion of 2 loops into housing areas along the old route making an increased distance of 9.3km compared to about 7km previously.
The new route :
Chung Ling High School -> Jln Air Itam -> Jln Thean Teik -> J. Shaik Eusoff -> J. Shaik Madar -> Jln. Thean Teik -> Lebuhraya Thean Teik -> Lorong Batu Lancang -> Taman Chesman -> Taman Kennedy -> Jln Masjid Negeri -> Jln Air Itam -> J. Ibbetson -> J. Grove -> Lorong Batu Lancang -> Taman David Chen -> Chung Ling High School = 9.32km (according to my Garmin GPS)

Congratulations to all the top finishers and thank you very much all the participants, photographers and supporters for your kind contributions in making this memorable gathering and we look forward to having more fun at our upcoming Anniversary Dinner at Stonebay Restaurant on 20 Aug

Excerpt from my posting in fb after the race:

"Would like to make special mention to the following 2 persons who turned up specially for this event:
1) Mr Tey Eng Tiong, a popular and devoted runner/photographer from K.L. who needs no further introduction, to our pleasant surprise Mr Tey showed his appearance in front of us early in the morning at the START with a knapsack on his back and a high5 camera in his hand. He said he was with a KL/PEN/KL bus ticket arriving dawn Penang this morning n leaving Penang at noon same day !!Thank you Tey for your superb dedication to the promotion n development of road running events in Malaysia. Cheers.....

2) Mr Chris Neilson who is presently undergoing recuperating process from a recent mishap while still in crutches showed his kind support to our i-Run participation n celebration by arriving to the event before the START on his own in a taxi.Thank you very much Chris for your special thoughtfulness which we were deeply touched. We again wish you all the best and a speedy recovery so that you can be running on the road again in less than 6 months.Once again our appreciations and thanks to the above 2 gentlemen"
